There are many reasons that Facebook will come in the way of you and your work – going through all the troll photos and memes, checking your friends updates and their photos or going through some of the news and updates on Facebook. And since there are ways to unblock Facebook access using proxy sites, it has become impossible to stay away from the social network even in offices or schools and colleges.
There is a way to deactivate your Facebook account but that is not a permanent solution as you can easily reactivate it again. So that’s not a solution to get rid of Facebook account once and for all.
So if you want to delete Facebook account permanently then here is the simple and the official way to do so right from your Facebook account. So let’ get started with the process!
Steps to Permanently Delete Facebook Account:
To delete your Facebook account once and for all, you should follow these 3 simple steps – taking a backup of your Facebook data, deactivating your account and then finally deleting it permanently.
Step 1: Backing Up Your Data
First of all, if you want then you can take a backup of all your Facebook data from your account by going to Settings > General Account Settings > Download a copy of your Facebook Data.
Then you have to click on the “Start My Archive” button and you will be asked to enter your Facebook password. Once you enter it, all your data will be processed and you will receive an email notification regarding your download request.
After a few minutes, you will get a second email with a download link to download all your data. Click on the link in the email address to open a download page. Then click on the “Download” button and all your Facebook data, including your messages, photos, videos and everything will be downloaded on your computer in a “.zip” file.
Once you have backed up your data, it’s now time to move on to the next step, i.e. deactivating your Facebook account.
Step 2: Deactivate Your Facebook Account
To deactivate your account, you need to go to your Settings page once again and then click on the Security tab in the left sidebar.
In the Security tab, you will see an option to “Deactivate Your Account” at the very bottom of the page. You will be asked for a reason, so choose any one of them and if you are an admin of some pages then make sure to appoint some new admins and then click on the “Confirm” button.
There is an Auto-reactivate option at the bottom so don’t tick on that option because we are going to delete the Facebook account permanently this time.
Step 3: Delete Facebook Account
And now it’s time for the final step, i.e. to delete your Facebook account once and for all. But you might wonder that there’s no option in your Settings area to delete your account!
Don’t worry because there is an option to do so but you will have to perform a quick search to get to that page. Let’s see how you can do so!
Click on the Lock icon in the top-right corner and in the search box, type in “delete facebook account” and then click on the first link that appear. Then you need to click on the “let us know” link as shown in the image below.
If you don’t want to do the above things then you can simply go to https://www.facebook.com/help/delete_account and then click on Delete My Account.
